Dr. Bernard Haisch is an astrophysicist and author of 130 scientific publications. Dr. Haisch was born in Stuttgart, Germany but lived his childhood in Indiana USA, he is a US citizen. He speaks English and German and reads Dutch, French, and Latin. During his youth he attended the Latin School of Indianapolis, and was also a student of the St. Meinrad Seminary School as a student of the Catholic priesthood. In 1971 he received his B.S. with a High Distinction in Astrophysics from Indiana University, and eight years later in 1979, he received his Ph.D in Astronomy from the University of Wisconsin. Upon completion of his formal education, Dr. Haisch moved on to postdoctoral research at the Joint Institute for Laboratory Astrophysics at the University of Boulder Colorado and the University of Utrecht Netherlands.
Dr. Haisch has developed a controversial yet intriguing argument to explain the universe that we see before us, that theory is called the “God Theory”. He argues that a ‘zero point energy field’ might provide an explanation for the origin of inertia, while at the same time explaining our connection with the universe and consciousness. His books The God Theory, The God Theory: Universes, Zero-Point Fields, and What’s Behind it All, and The Purpose Guided-Universe, attempt to explain these theories and bridge the gap between science and religion. The idea that one can have faith in Darwin, Einstein, and God is one most scientists stay away from. However, Dr. Haisch has centered his career on theories that do just that. He has been both praised and criticized for his writings, but has paved the way for a new way of looking at quantum mechanics and our influence on the world around us.
In addition to his work as an author and researcher, Dr. Haisch was the scientific editor of the Astrophysical Journal for ten years, and was the principal investigator on several NASA research projects. He was also a staff scientist for the Lockheed Martin Solar and Astrophysics Laboratory where he conducted research for the department of the Advanced Technology Center in Palo Alto, California (from 1979-1999). Dr. Haisch was the Deputy Director at the Center for Extreme Ultraviolet Astrophysics at the University of Berkley (1992-1994), and has also been the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal for Scientific Exploration (1988-1999). He was a Visiting Fellow at the Max-Planck-Institut fuer Extraterrestrische Physik in Garching, Germany (1991-1994), and at The Astronomical Institute, Rijksuniversiteit Utrecht, the Netherlands (1977-1978).
Dr. Haisch is married with three children living in the San Francisco Bay area. Since 2002 he has been a centrical part of the ManyOne and related Digital Universe projects which goal is to produce a multimedia online encyclopedia. Since 2004 he has been the President of the Digital Universe Foundation. Dr. Haisch has been and continues to be a strong influence on the scientific community, and engages new-agers with his fresh ideas about God, the universe, and the connection between consciousness and reality.
