Shoryu Bradley, residing Zen teacher and Priest  at Gyobutsuji, was ordained in the Soto Zen Buddhist tradition in 2002 by Seirin Barbara Kohn and received Dharma Transmission from Shohaku Okumura Roshi in 2010.

In 2010 he received teaching certification from his teacher, Shohaku Okumura. He holds a B.S. in psychology and an M.Ed. in rehabilitation counseling the University of Texas at Austin, and is a candidate for certification in Japanese psychology at the ToDo Institute of Vermont

He has trained at practice centers such as Austin Zen Center, Tassajara Zen Mountain Monastery, Sanshiji in Bloomington, Indiana, and Shogoji Monastery in Kumamoto prefecture, Japan. Shoryu will also host a workshops and meditation retreats.

In 2011, he became the Founder and a Guiding Monk of Gyobutsuji, a small monastery in the Ozark Mountains of Northwestern Arkansas. Gyobutsuji holds ten monthly “zazen only” sesshins per year in the style of Kosho Uchiyama Roshi, and it follows an intensive daily monastic schedule consisting of zazen, study, and work. Shoryu began residing at Gyobutsuji in 2012. Today the monastery hosts a few long-term residents as well as shorter-term visitors.
